To shoot the fantasy drama series, Game of Thrones, the makers wanted the continents of Westeros and Essos to be authentic and believable. And therefore, it was shot in multiple locations like Spain, Croatia, Ireland, Scotland, Malta and Iceland. When people around the world saw Games of Thrones, one thought crossed everyone’s mind; what if the show was shot in their own country? Except the countries it was already shot in, of course! Being the locations scouts that we are, we found appropriate options for the series to be shot in India!
Castle Black
Yes, Season 5 ends at Castle Black and that is going to be our first pick. Lord Commander Snow was bleeding away after being stabbed by his own people. They deemed him a traitor for bringing in the Wildlings from North of the Wall. The Castle Black is the headquarters of the Night’s Watch.
Obviously, Purandhar Fort doesn’t have snow, but does resemble Castle Black!
Winterfell
Earlier belonging to the House Stark, now under House Bolton, Winterfell is a small Godswood more than 1,000 miles north of King’s Landing. The Boltons settle into Winterfell, making it their home and reconstructing the burned out parts.
Looks like Winter Is Coming?
The Wall
The Wall is over 300 miles and is the fortress that protects everyone south of it. The Wall was built to defend the realm against everything north of the wall i.e. the Wildlings, White Walkers etc.
Yup! We have a wall of our own in India!
King’s Landing
The capital of the Seven Kingdoms is located on the east coast of Westeros. King’s Landing as the name suggests is where the King stays. Home to the Iron Throne, King’s Landing has suffered many attacks.
This also homes the Red Keep.
Red Keep
The seat of the ruler, his family and his counsel are situated in the Red Keep within King’s Landing. It is also home to the famous Iron Throne, made from the swords of the vanquished.
The city’s skyline is dominated by the Red Keep; it’s also the city’s primary fortress.
Dorne
Located in the southernmost part of Westeros, Dorne has a very desert climate. The only place that resisted the wrath of Aegon Targaryen and his fire breathing dragons is Dorne.
The Water Gardens, are a part of the Dornish Palace.
Bravos
This is the current home of Arya Stark. This city is also home to the Iron Bank which is the most powerful financial institution. Even the Kingdoms of Westeros and Essos are their customers.
Arya Stark is trying to become a servant of the many faced god – Valar Morghulis.
North of the wall
This is the home of the Free Folk or Wildlings, the White Walkers and many more creatures of the dark. The only area of land that is not considered to be under the ruler of the realm, is this. Now that Winter has come, so have the White Walkers!
All locations are available in India; the creators should have sent their scouts here, don’t you think?
So, when are you Zooming to get a fill of these?
