Zoom Self Drive Car Hire Celebration
A Happy Zoom Family!

As many of you know, last week was the 1 year Anniversary of Zoom. In order to celebrate this momentous occasion we decided to celebrate in style; we went to BBQ nation on Tuesday night and stuffed our faces full of skewers!

Personally, this was my favorite moment in all the time that I have spent with Zoom…and for good reason. When I came to Zoom 6 months ago we had 20 employees and were at just 2 locations with under 25 cars. Throughout that time I have seen us expand to over 60 employees, and we’re now at 13 locations with over 100 cars! It has been insanely exciting to watch this growth happen right in front of my eyes, and nowhere was it more evident than when I was at BBQ nation with the entire Zoom team.

This was a particularly special occasion because it was the first time I got to see the entire Zoom team all under one roof. Fleet executives, call center personnel, senior management and everyone else, all stuffing their faces and living the barbeque dream! It was amazing to meet all of the people from Zoom that I had never met before, and it was so much fun to interact with everyone over great food and drink.

Here were some of my favorite highlights:

From the moment I walked into the office Tuesday morning, our CTO Amit was trash talking and challenged me to an eating contest. He called himself “Amit the DesTROYer” (my name is Troy). Although he underestimated my eating abilities due to my vegetarian diet, I had no doubt that I would be able to dominate him with ease. However, I knew that our CEO Greg would be a formidable challenge. I said to Amit, “If either of us can beat Greg, I will be happy… but I don’t think either of us will.” David, our other founder, decided he wanted to actually enjoy his food and not stuff his face…a cowardly decision.

That night I arrived to dinner 30 minutes late. Amit and Greg already got a head start on the eating, and Amit was yelling at me that I needed to catch up. Being that I can’t eat chicken, beef, or mutton, but will eat fish, I had to stick with Prawns and fish skewers. I realized early on that catching up to the two of these eating machines was an unrealistic goal.

Despite crushing over 30 prawns, 5 skewers of fish, and a full plate of veg sides…I came nowhere close to being able to touch the DesTROYer and Gregory Moran.

Final Count: Amit = 30 Skewers

The rest of the night was full of conversation, laughter, and good vibes all around. I got to meet and talk to many of the people on the team who I rarely get the chance to interact with on a day-to-day basis. I got to meet friends and family members (Alwin, your kids are amazingly cute!). I got to see everyone have fun in a non-business setting and truly relax and let loose. It was a beautiful experience filled with beautiful people, and I was truly happy to be a part of it all.

Here are some of my favorite pictures from throughout the night.
