About Bandipur National Park

Bandipur National Park is a wildlife sanctuary known for its enormous tiger reserve, located in southwest Karnataka. The park is 874 sq. Kilometers large, and in combination with three other protected reserves forms  India’s largest biospehere, known as the Nilgiri Biosphere Reserve. Home to Tigers, Leopards, Elephants, boars, and many other animals, this National Park is a must see for any animal lover and nature enthusiast. This park plays an important role in supporting endangered species of the world, and is the perfect place to take a weekend trip with the family or significant other.  

Rent a car from Zoom and arrive in Bandipur with ease! The best way to get there is via the Bangalore-Mysore road. Continue along this road until the NH212, and tak this towards Coimbatore-Ooty-Gundlupet Hwy. The entire trip is just over 215KM and should take at least four hours, but if you get lost our GPS can guide you the entire way! Get there faster than with a bus or train and stop at your own convenience.

Jeep Safari’s:
The best way to explore Bandipur National Park is to get behind the wheels of a jeep and explore the unexplored! Hire a driver to take you around the sanctuary so that you have the freedom to take pictures as you please. The Jeeps usually cost roughly Rs. 2200, but foreigners will often pay extra. It is also only open from 6am to 11am and then after 4pm.
 

Elephant Rides:
Looking for something a little more adventurous? Jump on the back of an elephant for a truly unforgettable experience. These elephants are well trained and are good with handling children of all ages. What a better way to experience wildlife than to do it on the back of an elephant!
 

Camping:
For those looking to spend a night in the wilderness, camping is a viable option. There are many jungle lodges in the area, or if you would like to pitch a tent yourself you can as well! However, if not staying in a jungle lodge you must get permission from the Range Officers at the park.

Best Time To Visit

The best time to visit Bandipur is between October to May, but Bandipur has pleasant weather year round.
