About Dharmasthala

Dharmasthala is a temple town widely known for its Dharmasthala Temple, located on the banks of the Nevravathi River in Karnataka. It is an atypical temple in the sense that it is run by a Jain administration but Hindu priests perform Poojas. From November-December nearly 10,000 people visit every day for the annual festival Lakshadeepa. A kitchen filled with volunteers provides free food for all visitors and there are guesthouses for those who wish to stay overnight. Regardless of if you are coming for the festival or not, Dharmasthala is a spectacular place to visit for the weekend.
