About Halebeedu

Halebeedu or “Old City” is a small town known for its Hoysala architecture, located in the Hassan District of Karnataka. Once the capital of the Hoysala Empire in the 12th century, it has been destroyed several times and is now in very bad condition. Along with Belur and Shravanabelagola, Halebeedu forms the golden triangle of Karnataka. If temples and history are your craving, this is one of the best places to visit in all of Karnataka.

Rent a car from Zoom and arrive in Halebeedu with ease! The best way to get there is to take the NH48 to Hassan. From there, take SH21 the remainder of the way to Halebeedu. The entire trip is just over 200KM and should take three to four hours, but if you get lost our GPS can guide you the entire way! Get there faster than with a bus or train and stop at your own convenience.

Rent an SUV if you have a big group or rent a sedan such as the Vento or Ford Figo if you have a smaller group or are with your significant other.

If you don't own a car or don't want to take your own car, then Zoom has several options for you to consider:
Hatchback : Take our Ford Figo ZXI for flexibility in your travels. The Figo gives you freedom to explore Halebeedu however you want.
Sedans : Zoom with Volkswagen Vento or BMW 320d if you want to ride around Halebeedu  in style. These cars are great if you have a small group or are with your significant other.
SUV : If trekking is what you crave, the mighty Scorpio is all yours to explore the unexplored. No need to worry about steep uphill climbs or rough terrain, the Scorpio can handle it all. The Scorpio is especially good if you are with a large group of people.

- A 3G enabled tablet, which makes navigation a breeze.
- No deposit required to Zoom off.

In order to get the most out of your experience, rent a car from Zoom so that you have the freedom to explore Halebeedu as you please. No need to negotiate with rickshaw drivers or walk for kilometers, you can drive however and wherever you want.

Here are three of the best things to see and do in Halebeedu:

Hoysaleswara Temple:
Built all the way back in 1121 C.E., this temple is truly a work of art. Precision sculpting with incredible details, an endless amount of Hindu mythology is depicted all over the walls and ceilings…and no two are the same! However, despite more than 86 years of labor the temple was never finished.

Kedareshwara Temple:
Located a stones throw away from Hoysaleswara Temple, this temple is another fantastic example of Hoysala architecture. Built by King Veera Ballala II, this temple was dedicated to Lord Shiva. It is a must see if you are visiting Halebeedu for the weekend.

Halebeedu is just 16KM away from Belur, a very famous historical town with equally impressive architecture. If you are visiting Halebeedu we recommend visiting Belur as well.

Insiders Tip: Make sure to read up on the history of this small town before visiting!
