About Muthodi Wildlife Sanctuary

Muthodi Wildlife Sanctuary, also known as the Bhadra Wildlife Sanctuary, is a wildlife preserve located in the Western Ghats spread over an area of 492 sq. kilometers, located about 38 km away from Chikmagalur. Located within this sanctuary are the fantastic trekking destinations of Kemmangundi and Baba Budan, making it the perfect getaway for nature lovers living in Bangalore. Over 120 species of trees can be found here, as well as over 250 different types of birds, and various types of reptiles as well. For the adventurous, Tigers and Elephants can be seen if you take a Safari tour inside of the forest! If you are looking for a breath of fresh air and fantastic scenery, this is one of the best places in all of India.  

Rent a car from Zoom and arrive at the Muthodi Wildlife Sanctuary with ease! The best way to get there is via the Bangalore-Mangalore Highway. Continue along this road until you reach Belur Road. From there continue along this road until you reach the SH57, then follow signs towards the wildlife sanctuary. The entire trip is just under 250KM and should take roughly 4 hours, but if you get lost our GPS can guide you the entire way! Get there faster than with a bus or train and stop at your own convenience.

Chikmagalur:
The nearby town of Chikmagalur is where most people tend to stay when visiting this area. This is the best place to find food, housing, and shopping as well. If you plan on spending the night or weekend this is the best place to find accommodation and safe, clean food.
 

Insiders Tip: Make sure to be at the top of Bababudangiri Hills during sunset, as this is one of the best times to see the valley fully illuminated.
