Today, many Hindi film-makers opt to step out of their studios, setting the backdrop of their films all across our beautiful country. From small towns and villages to bustling cities, they send their scouts to search the entire country for the most suitable locations, that fit their story narration. How about we recollect these awesome movies by making trips to these very locations?

The Regal & Royal Rajasthan

Many film-makers have taken their lenses to the royal and resplendent Rajasthan.  Even a few Hollywood flicks have been shot in this colorful state, providing a backdrop of palaces, forts, lakes and more. A film-maker’s paradise. really. Remember when Salman Khan was learning to sing in Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam?

How can anyone forget Lamhe? The movie had celebrating Rajasthan in the entire first half of the film.

Or Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani, when Deepika & Ranbir go site seeing.

Chennai Express

The locations of the Shahrukh & Deepika starrer movie took us through splendid landscapes to be in awe of, amidst the chaotic twists and turns of the movie. The beautiful aerial view of many places that are portrayed to be Tamil Nadu but are actually not. They are shot all over parts of South Western India.

Surely,  you remember the gorgeous waterfall, when Deepika’s father is introduced; this is actually Dudhsagar Falls in Goa.

And the gorgeous backdrops of the hills in many parts of the movie is actually shot in Munnar, Kerala. The song ‘Kashmir main, tu Kanyakumari’ was also shot in and around Munnar!

And who can forget the trip the duo makes to Rameshwaram. Just seeing these blue waters will make you want to drive there right now!

Aamchi Mumbai

The tinsel town and entertainment capital of the country, and home of Bollywood. Many film-makers have taken their movies to the streets and outskirts of this lively city. Many movies have been shot here like Munna Bhai MBBS, Dhoom 2, A Wednesday and many more.

Remember Hrithik Roshan walking down here, after entering Mumbai to rob the diamond?

Or Munna Bhai and Circuit dancing to the title track here?

Yeh Delhi Hai Mere Yaar

Bollywood has been enthralled with the brilliant roads, monuments, markets and many locations this historical city has to offer. From Rang De Basanti to 2 States (which was also extensively shot in Chennai as well), Kajol & Aamir starrer Fanaa to Ranbir Kapoor’s Rockstar, many Bollywood flicks were shot in the capital city of Delhi.

When a blind Kajol along with her college mate comes to Delhi, for a cultural fest and visits the monuments.

The visit to old Delhi in Bajrangi Bhaijaan, with Salman and Kareena in a cycle rickshaw.

Bustling Bangalore

Yes, even the garden city and the outskirts have been used in many Bollywood films. Anyone remember the Kareena & Imran starrer Gori Tere Pyaar Mein? The scene where Kareena is holding a protest, to the venue where Imran is getting married (to Shraddha Kapoor) is shot in this beautiful city. 

Remember Coolie? This was shot in Bangalore too. In fact, Amitabh Bachchan got severely injured during the making of the movie, and was hospitalized in a Bangalore hospital as well .

“Ab Tera Kya Hoga Kaliya?” Yes, the famous dialogue from the greatest Bollywood film Sholay was shot in Ramanagaram, which is a 2 hour drive from Bangalore.
