Here’s a list of movies that were shot in these beautiful places in Kashmir!
Gulmarg
The scene where Anushka Sharma dances on ‘Jiya re Jiya re’ in the movie ‘Jab tak hai jaan’ was shot here and although the movie ‘Yeh jawani hai deewani’ is about trekking in Manali, various scenes have been shot in these serene location in Gulmarg, Jammu & Kashmir.
Palgham
This is a very popular spot for filmmakers in Bollywood. This location has been used in a number of movies like ‘Rockstar’, the song ‘katiya karu’ has been shot in this location; ‘Highway’, ‘Silsila’ ‘Ram teri ganga maili’ and ‘Betaab’ have all been shot at this location. This beautiful place is a must-visit when you’re in Kashmir.
Chandanwari
Remember Alia Bhatt’s movie ‘Highway’? A couple of scenes were shot at the mesmerizing locations in the hilly regions of Chandanwari.
The ‘betaab valley’ in Chandanwari is named after Sunny Deol’s debut movie in 1983 – ‘Betaab’.
Interestingly, Chandanwari is also the starting point for the Amarnath Yatra.
Dal Lake
Who doesn’t know about the famous Dal Lake of Jammu & Kashmir? This location has been used in so many movies. But somehow, every time you see it, you feel like packing your bags right away! Dal Lake can been seen in various movies like ‘Rockstar’ again, ‘Jab tak hai jaan’ and of course in ‘Mission Kashmir’. This lake can also be seen in the popular movie of the 1960’s ‘Kashmir ki Kali’.
Also, the recent movie ‘Fitoor’ starring Katrina Kaif and Aditya Roy Kapoor was shot at Nishat Bagh, at the banks of the Dal Lake.
Aru Valley
The Alia Bhat starrer ‘Highway’ was shot here as well. And remember Sunny Deol dancing to ‘Yaara o Yaara’ with his famous signature step; all shot at Aru Valley. Yes, Aru valley is much more than that! The alluring scenic beauty of this valley will leave you spellbound!
