Sushil Reddy, aged 26 years is an alumni of the Indian Institute of Technology, Bombay (Mumbai). After completing his a dual degree in B.Tech and M.Tech, in the Energy Science and Engineering fields. Sushil made an unusual decision to tweak a bicycle and to make it a solar-powered motor-assisted bicycle. After he accomplished this, he decided to take this solar powered bike for a spin; so off he went on a trip to Goa from Mumbai. His aim was to spread the word about solar energy awareness in India, using innovative and creative methods. He’s an avid hockey player, and a freelance writer; likes to write about sports and tech. He is also very passionate about cycling and travel.
This time, Sushil is pushing his boundaries to spread the importance and requirement of solar energy awareness in India. He will be riding his now improved, solar bicycle design. On his journey he will be covering these cities in one go: Mumbai – Surat – Bhavnagar – Somnath – Dwarka – Jamnagar – Mt. Abu – Jodhpur – Jaisalmer – Bikaner – Amritsar – Chandigarh – Delhi – Jaipur – Surat – Mumbai. The solar bicycle has 240 Watts of solar panels attached to a trailer, and the bike has 70% aid using solar panels. Along the route which he has chosen, Sushil will stop at a few universities and colleges to talk about the journey; the scenario of solar energy in India; and interact with the students as well.
Mr. Prasad Nanasaheb Erande, is his mentor and has a mammoth sized experience behind him. With his mentor’s help, Sushil has planned the route, taking all the necessary safety measures, the roads with maximum sunshine and good terrains for a bicycle to tread on. The entire trip would cover approximately 7000 km. Keeping in mind the long journey, he needs a support vehicle, and a mechanic with him at all times. Zoomcar decided to partner with Sushil by provided him a support vehicle, an SUV, to help him on this remarkable journey.
